This month is all about staying focused. For me, it's been a time to remain diligent and stay on top of emails, obligations, bills, maintaining my website, etc. so I don't lose track of time and meet all the deadlines leading up to my art exhibit this November in New York City. This also means I've had to hunker down and sort of become a hermit which is so not me as l am a social butterfly. Less socializing and texting, more working out to keep me strong and disciplined.

I spent the month reflecting on everything leading up to this moment. I realize that if I hadn't of gotten laid off in December 2017, I wouldn't be where I am right now having an art exhibit in New York City. I'm enjoying the journey and don't want to rush it as I'm constantly learning more about myself. Letting go of the past and anything toxic that was in it was a big factor in moving forward for me. My mantra, lets go and do this!

I also finished a new painting, Facing the Future which was a personal journey for me. This painting was four other completely different versions before I came up with the final piece which is an abstract portrait of myself. It was a release of what I had been going through lately. This painting took me a long time to finish which is fine because I don't believe in rushing the creative process. I also don't rush through anything or settle especially when I paint. I have to believe in what I am doing and that I am on the right path. This not only applies in my artwork, but to my life.
